Across the Western US, rising home prices are slowing economic growth and stripping first-time homebuyers and middle-class families of homeownership opportunities. Commonsense, market-driven solutions to expand the housing supply are urgently needed. The Homesteading 2.0 proposal is one such approach. By unlocking 0.3 percent (850 square miles) of Bureau of Land Management land, the West could build 3 million new homes, closing the housing supply gap and restoring housing affordability and economic vitality for generations to come.
Join the AEI Housing Center and U.S. Chamber of Commerce for a discussion on how Homesteading 2.0 can help address housing affordability challenges across Western states. The event will explore key policy aspects and proposals for Homesteading 2.0, the housing affordability and supply benefits of developing Freedom Cities, and much more.
